Joan Gelfond came to The Shlenker School in 1990 as the computer lab teacher. She has participated in the growth of technology on campus at both the School and Temple. In 1999, Joan completed the Networking Technologies Program at Southern Methodist University and followed with Microsoft Certification as a Certified System Engineer. During the Summer of 2000, Joan became the Technology Director for The Shlenker School and Congregation Beth Israel. Membership in the Texas Educator's Computer Association (TCEA) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) gives Joan additional support in her field.
In 2009, Joan completed her BA in English at National University and in 2011 completed a M. Ed. in Education Administration School Leadership at Grand Canyon University. Joan shares the belief of Herbert W. Lovelace in spreading the magic of technology: “Innovation is the life blood of information technology and ideas can come from anywhere, especially the young. May we never lose the ability or the faith to question the present and learn from the past, so that the future may be a better place for everyone.”
My child has just blossomed at The Shlenker School; we couldn't be happier.
