Whether you were directly affected by the hurricane or know of a family who has been affected, we know this is a very difficult time for everyone.  To better understand your needs, Shlenker has set up two online forms with links below.  One form is for those of you who have been directly affected by the storm and would appreciate some assistance. We are also accepting gift cards, which can be mailed to The Shlenker School, 5600 Braeswood Blvd., Houston, TX 77096 marked attention Julie Jerden, Director of Advancement, or dropped off at school once we resume.

Additionally, we have a large number of uniforms available for anyone who needs them.  However, if you do not have uniforms for the next week or so, please do not worry about it.

Once we return to school, Karen Miller, Shlenker’s Director of Counseling and Family Services, will be available for students and/or parents for questions or concerns.  She will also meet with classes and provide guidance as we begin the school year again.  Karen can be reached at

Some additional information that you may find helpful is listed below:

The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center (ERJCC) will be collecting and distributing relief supplies in the Boniuk Family Tennis Center.  On Wednesday, August 30, they will accept donations from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM. They will distribute and accept donations supplies Thursday-Sunday (Aug 31-Sept 3) from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Please know that organizations and friends around the country, as well as many Jewish Schools, have reached out to Shlenker with thoughts, prayers, and offers of support.

Our plan is still to reopen on Tuesday, September 5.  Should anything change, you will be notified through our emergency notification system.
