Laying the Foundation for Lifelong Learning
At The Shlenker School, our PreK-3 and PreK-4 programs provide a strong foundation for academic success and social-emotional growth through developmentally appropriate experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our play-based approach allows children to connect authentically with content and co-construct their learning with their teachers and peers.
PreK-3: Building Confidence Through Exploration
Designed for children ages 3 to 4, our PreK-3 program encourages active participation and hands-on learning in a nurturing and engaging environment through play.
Children grow in confidence and curiosity as they play and explore inviting classroom centers like:
- Blocks
- Dramatic play
- Art
- Sensory tables
- Music
- ...and more—each thoughtfully designed to spark imagination and support early learning.
Through play and guided exploration, students practice cooperation, solve problems, engage in imaginative play, and develop early literacy and language skills. Our teachers support students in gaining independence, building relationships, and developing critical thinking skills that prepare them for continued academic and personal growth.
PreK-4: Preparing for Kindergarten and Beyond
Our PreK-4 program builds on the joyful learning that begins in PreK-3, inviting children to take the next step toward Kindergarten through rich, hands-on play experiences that strengthen problem-solving, language, and motor skills in fun and meaningful ways.
Classroom interest areas expand to include more sophisticated tools and activities such as:
- Extended STEM and Literacy instruction
- Lego education
- Enriched art experiences
The curriculum is carefully designed to challenge children across all developmental domains-cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language-ensuring that each child is well-prepared for a successful transition to Kindergarten.
