Counseling and Family Services

Our full-time Director of Counseling and Family Services serves students and families in both the Early Childhood and Elementary school. Students have access to the counselor one-on-one, in small groups, as a class, or as a grade level. Students may meet with the counselor for a single session or for ongoing support. The counselor’s primary role is to support students as they learn the skills needed for developing and maintaining positive peer relationships, conflict resolution, and positive self-esteem.

In addition to offering parent education courses and family services throughout the year, our Director of Counseling and Family Services works with classroom teachers to enact our social emotional curriculum and present classroom lessons in each grade. Subjects covered include manners, kindness, leadership, listening, problem solving, goal setting, resilience, self-esteem, and how to be a good friend. The counselor offers practical strategies for helping children develop academic and social-emotional competencies and this ongoing work with our students demonstrates our commitment to educating the whole child.
